As expected, YT has been unkind. I'm happy to sub videos, but at this rate, I won't be able to share most of them with you. Please bookmark this page, as this will indicate where my videos have gone. And don't worry; I WILL continue to spread the Arashi love, one way or another... :)

The Quiz Sho(w) Article (translations) :)

I thought I'd share an article about Sho-kun's new TV drama, "The Quiz Sho(w)". The original article can be found here, for those fluent in Japanese. But I promise that I've translated it to the best of my abilities. I've also centered it around Sho-kun's role, so some minor details have been omitted. Don't worry; pretty much most of it has been translated. :) So enjoy! It includes a small synopsis about the premise of the drama and what Sho-kun's role is about. Here it is:

Newspaper Article March 14, 2009

Sakurai Sho (27), a member of the popular group, Arashi, will be starring in Nippon TV's drama series, "The Quiz Show" starting April 18th, air time Saturdays at 9:00pm. It is a remake of last summer's late night version of the same name. He will play the role of the quiz show host, delving deep into the personal histories of the quiz show participants. This will be Sakurai's second TV drama role in nearly six years, and with Yokoyama Yu (from Kanjani8) in the supporting role, the two seem to create a mysterious aura in making this drama.

As a top Japanese idol and as a newscaster, the multi-talented Sakurai will challenge himself to play this role.

The synopsis of this series is that of a live quiz show, where the participants will have their deepest secrets revealed if they answer the questions correctly. Sakurai will play the role of the eccentric emcee of the show.

His character, at least in his high school days, was lively and outgoing, but after an unfortunate accident, he suffered a memory loss that still affects him to this day. Yokoyama's role as the quiz show's director, keeps Sakurai's character under house arrest (confined from the world) while he extracts the participants' hidden memories. In the process, however, Sakurai's character will come to realize the history he once forgot.

Producer Ikeda Kenji states, "Unlike his usual tidied up image, or his roles as heroic protagonists, I'm looking forward to seeing his outstanding acting in a role so contrary to his others, one that requires him to portray the confusion and pains of a man who has lost his memory."

Sakurai says, "To have the plot of the drama be of a live quiz show is quite a new approach. Moreover, this drama is filled with mysteries and strange characters; this is 180 degrees different from the role I played as Yatterman, so I'm very excited about it. I hope that we will be able to surprise the viewers with this great drama series."

Can't wait!

A new video has been uploaded. It's only a clip (trying to be conservative for a bit) but it's got a lot of Arashi love packed into it.

I've also gotten requests to sub videos related to Nino's special TV drama, "Door to Door". I'll try to have some of them up soon. Check back for updates.

As for now, here's a translated article (translations by me) of what Nino thought about his role. The original article can be found here, for those who can understand Japanese.

Q.) Wasn't it difficult playing the role of someone afflicted with cerebral palsy?
Nino ("N" hereafter): "You say it's 'difficult' to play that role, but I consider cerebral palsy as just another personality trait."

Q.) (When compared to his past TV drama, "Marathon") Are the roles similar?"
N.) "I try to take into consideration the physical aspects and actions of these individuals, but that does not affect the character I portray."

When it comes to reading the script...
N.) "I don't read the whole script. I get yelled at for not reading all of it. But think about it. For example, there are things that my mother says that I don't hear because I'm not there. But in drama scripts, even those are written. It's just information I don't need and shouldn't know. Besides, say there's a character in the drama that ends up dying. I can react in such a more natural and realistic way if I don't read the script beforehand because it's actually shocking."

How interesting! And if you think about it, that's a great approach. Impressive Nino! :)

Psst! You can't see this on YT! (Well, this compilation, anyway.)

The Aibaka Compilations, #1

My favorite scenes? Here they are:

1. When Matsujun helps Aiba-chan put on the Santa hat. How cute!
2. The face Aiba-chan makes when everyone's complaining that he's the rural kid. LOL!
3. When Aiba crouches down on the floor at the end of this video. Kawaii :)

Aiba-chan mania!

To all Arashi fans...

Greetings.

To get things started, I want you all to know that I am just another Arashi fan. :) I sub Arashi videos so that native and non-native speakers alike can come to love Arashi even more. I've started my quest for this on YouTube, but alas, they're incredibly anal about copyright infringement. So I started this blog simultaneously so that if my account is suspended (like all the other wonderful Arashi fans), my friends will be able to follow me along so that you all know what I'm up to. This is where I'll bring you news about what my (new) YT account name is (so you all can subscribe again! :) Yay!) and perhaps upload my other videos. I'm trying my best to keep bringing you all subbed Arashi videos!

For now, please check out my YT if you haven't already. It's still surviving.

Thank you all for your support! Help me keep going! Your encouragement is vital!

Arashi fever,
